Jill Trappler (born 1957) works in several media, including painting, weaving and installation. Often without beginning or end, her works are exultant expressions of an abstract artist’s conscious and unconscious mind exploring notions of colour, scale, structure, shape, surface and texture.

Trained at the Johannesburg Art Foundation (founded by her late uncle, Bill Ainslie), Trappler has relentlessly followed her creative impulse, producing primarily non-figurative acrylic pieces which examine her relationship with colour, scale, structure, shape, surface and texture, the last three being clearly of dominant interest. She lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa.
